Mr. Marcellinus Essah, Project Officer

Marcellinus Essah is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Geography and Program in Planning, University of Toronto, Canada. Marcellinus received his Masters in Environmental Studies from York University, Toronto, Canada and a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and Sociology at the University of Ghana. Broadly, he is interested in the political economy/ecology of food and agriculture systems; sustainable development; sustainable livelihoods; natural resources extraction and conservation. He identifies as a community development worker, activist, and researcher. His research and related publications have covered a range of topics and been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Resources Policy. He is a peer-reviewer for several top journals namely: Natural Resource Forum; Resources Policy; and Environmental Planning and Management. Marcellinus has over five years’ experience in teaching and research and has volunteered for Engineers without Borders, Guinness Ghana and the Canadian Association of Geographers. Marcellinus has certificates in NGO Management, Project Management, and Agripreneurship. His masters and doctoral works have been funded by the York University Graduate Scholarship, University of Toronto Fellowship and the Ontario Graduate Scholarship. He is a member of the Political Economy/Ecology research group in the Department of Geography and Program in Planning at the University of Toronto, Canada.
