Together, the Tropical Biology Association (TBA) and the Institute of Nature and Environmental Conservation (INEC) have partnered in a new practical program to strengthen conservation managers’ abilities to protect Ghana’s endangered tree species. The ultimate objective is to successfully manage ecosystems and restore species to ensure that the protection of threatened trees is sustainable. This will directly aid the objectives of Ghana’s national plan for threatened trees.
This course is for Ghanaian conservation practitioners and managers working to conserve threatened tree species and restore their habitats. Preference will be for current holders of Foundation Franklinia grants, as well as those with suitable projects for future grants with Foundation Franklinia.
Participants will gain knowledge and skills essential for in situ conservation and restoration of threatened tree species and their habitats, including:
- Planning for impacts for restoration projects.
- Understanding the links between restoration and ecology of forests to achieve long-term conservation outcomes.
- Understanding different restoration approaches and when to apply them.
- Monitoring impacts.
- Communicating the importance of conserving Ghana’s threatened tree species
